Dear reader,
I am asking for your support of my campaign for re-election as Eagle County Commissioner!
You heard from me four years ago as I was about to launch my first campaign for re-election as Eagle County Commissioner. I had been on the job just over a year then. I’ve got five years in the rearview mirror now, and I can honestly say this work as county commissioner is the most significant I have ever done. I am proud of what we have accomplished in Eagle County and am humbled by the incredible people here making this a better Eagle County for all.
We’ve worked intentionally at Eagle County over the past years to build a more collaborative community approach to addressing our shared challenges and opportunities. Residents don’t see the boundaries between towns in our everyday lives. We don’t really think about which taxes go where. We just see one community of friends, family, neighbors, and guests, and our governments should perform seamlessly just as our community does. By working together with our towns, special districts, nonprofits, and community members, Eagle County has accelerated work on our most pressing issues.
We are creating more workforce housing with partners than we could on our own.
Next we will revise our land use codes to induce more free-market workforce housing opportunities.
We’re thinking more creatively about climate solutions with energy-efficient heat pump, geothermal, electrified transportation, and energy storage projects.
Now we are working to incorporate energy efficiency and renewable power into our building code.
We’ve recognized that the youth mental health crisis is not a school problem but a community problem, and we’ve funded additional therapists to bring help directly where it’s needed.
We continue to work with our partners towards a holistic approach to physical and mental health care and wellbeing for everyone in our community.
And we have all recognized the importance of the critical services that we provide our community and have voted for tax measures to improve transportation, housing, and childcare.
With dedicated funding we can now better plan for and support these critical workforce needs.
I do have an opponent this election, and I’m excited for the opportunity to reach people who might otherwise tune out an uncontested election. There are parts of our community that can be more difficult to reach outside of campaign season. We want to do more than ask for votes. We want to give people a reason to engage, to seek their own representation that reflects their own experience, to advocate for their own interests.
Our Hispanic and youth communities are notoriously underrepresented in Eagle County, and so their voices are repressed around the issues critical to their lives. We believe our campaign can help give purpose, power, and passion to those voices.
I welcome a conversation with you, too. Reach out at the number or email below. No contribution necessary, and no reason to limit your input to campaign season! I always appreciate hearing your thoughts.
Thank you in advance for your contribution and support! You can give at this link with a credit or debit card, or send a check to:
